'If you could boil down just about every daydream
you've ever had about French provincial life, it would end up looking like this' "Small-town living in Gascony" by Sean Newsom Sunday Times, 13 May 2007 |
Welcome to "in the vrai sud"…
If you're looking for a holiday where you can visit good restaurants, the market and find lovely places to explore without ever needing to get in your car, you're in the right place. Choosing to holiday "in the vrai sud", means you're only a few minutes walk from 6 great restaurants/café bars (which is amazing in a village of only 1200 people!);
you've got your own pool in the private walled garden; you can take leisurely walks by the riverside, or be a bit more energetic, taking to the river by canoe - the choice is yours.
Take over our stunning bourgeois village house in the heart of the Gers, which has been lovingly and tastefully restored and has every home-from-home comfort you could want for your holiday. Taking a well-earned break here you'll get a taste of real French life and you'll live like a local during your holiday. Choose this as your holiday and either ditch the car completely for an authentic rural French break (with plenty to do if you wish) or use this as a base to really explore the south west. The Pyrenees, the Spanish basque country, Biarritz, Pau and the Atlantic coast make lovely days out.
With a wide choice of flights, you're sure to find something to suit your dates, location and budget. Pau international airport (with flights from Stansted and Bristol) is only 40 minutes away. Bordeaux and Toulouse (with any number of UK flight options) are a 2 hour drive and if you fancy coming into Biarritz (with flights from Stansted, Dublin and Shannon) that's an hour and a half's drive. Alternatively, you could take the ferry option and see a bit of France as you travel.
Holiday "in the vrai sud" and you'll find a really warm Gascon welcome from us and the locals alike.
